Morning good people,
We’re getting right to it today.
Today is the day the Atlanta City Council votes to approve a new budget for the Atlanta Police Training Facility estimated to cost the city $67 million. The nearly three-year-long battle to stop the building of this facility has cost lives, safety, and the well-being of Atlanta residents.
My only request from you as a reader is to read about the #StopCopCity movement, support legal funds as the vote rolls out today, and find a way to commemorate the life of Tortugita, the forest defender killed by APD in January after a raid on the Weelaunee Forest.
I can’t say enough how the work of organizers in Chicago against Cop Academy in 2018 made it possible for me to understand how city budgets impact our daily lives. I hope you use this moment to let it transform you into action.
The beast of fascism is coming for all of us. Be safe out there!
